Legend bags and belts is a well-regarded Dutch leather goods company that is stocked in hundreds of boutiques across Europe. We are happy to let you know the brand is now available for the Australian and New Zealand market. We are their proud distributors.

Their leather is sourced from Spain and Italy and made in Morocco in their own factory.

Tanning process and buckles

 

All their belts are tanned in LWG-certified tanneries. The abbreviation LWG stands for, Leather Working Group. Every tannery is audited on their production process with the aim of improving environmental processes, performance and working conditions. Most bags in the collection are from vegetable tanned leather. This means that no chemicals are used in the tanning process.

 

The buckles on all their belts and bags are completely nickel free. Nickel free buckles ensure no stains on your skin, clothes, and no discolouration.

 

Production process At Legend they only use leather from cowhides. All the belts are made by hand in their own factory in Morocco and the bags are made in India.

 

Animal skins and sustainability

 

Leather products are sustainable. This may sound strange! But as explained by the owner “At Legend Bags & Belts, we do not use skin from exotic or endangered animals. In addition, we also do not use fur. Our animal skins come from the waste of the meat industry, and these skins are also biodegradable. Taken together with the fact of the lifespan of a leather product is way longer than, for example, a PU article (Poly Urethane), made from oil and plastic. The environmental impact of replacing a fake leather item multiple times is many times more damaging than one leather item. Animals are not slaughtered for the purpose of producing leather articles. Animals are slaughtered for the meat industry. Instead of burning the leather or putting it on landfills, with a major negative impact on the environment, it is reused to make leather.”

 

Packaging

 

Their shipping boxes and hang tags are made from recycled corrugated cardboard, with a black cover paper. The wood from which the shipping boxes are made, comes from responsibly managed forests.

They aim to continue implementing even more sustainable practises into the future.
